Marietta Chapter 22 (Plus Some)

You’ve waited. And waited. And waited some more.

And it’s…

Waaaait for it…

Finally here! Enjoy Chapter 22: Affirmation. Clear out the room first tho.

Also, I’m pleased to also link out the (I’m sure equally) awaited second chapter of Their Love-Life Starts After the Wedding Night! (Hereafter just Wedding Night). Enjoy Night 2: Theobald’s Circumstances, where the author was quick to answer everyone’s most burning of questions: “why?”

Marietta Chapter 21

Have a go at Chapter 21: For the First Night. Just make sure to get the kids out of the room.

Really should have gotten this out sooner. Unfortunately, I stumbled upon Royalroadl. I mean, I’d visited before, but this time it sort of stuck and I started reading all the crap. All of it. I have sunk literal days into the site, and I have no clue why I keep rolling back when I can feel the quality of my life degrading with each page. 2/5 hats, not enough bros.

In light of not yet having a job, I think I’ll try my hand at kicking translation into high gear. After all, nothing quite hits like that feeling of accomplishment after posting a chapter and watching it come up on NU. Really takes the edge off my self pity. Heyo!

Marietta Chapter 20

Things get a little steamy with Chapter 20: Adlan Gets Serious, but this should be safe for family reading. Just barely. My girlfriend gave me a weird look, but forewent the usual “what are you even writing?” so it can’t be too bad.

Nothing much to report, but if any of mah peeps have good methods for restoring a circadian rhythm, I could use some help. I don’t even know when my body wants to sleep anymore; it just sort of reads web novels until it collapses at this point.

Marietta Chapter 19

Hello again! Enjoy Chapter 19: Won’t You Do It (Rated PG this time). As an aside, I was super excited when I saw that, somewhere in the past few chapters we had been upgraded on the NU page from R-15 to R-18. Woo?

So, for those interested, my plan two weeks ago was to cart my laptop with me to New Orleans for spring break and work on chapters while relaxing in the hotel during the evening. I have one night to eat beignets and relax before I’m crippled with hours of stomach pain, a full body rash, and nausea to the point of hospitalization with something weird. Whether fortunate or unfortunate, I ended up at a university hospital, and the resident interns seemed quite excited about the prospect of draining all my blood to figure out what my mysterious disease was, and very nearly kept me to the end of my vacation (even though I was pretty much stable six hours in /: ). Only ended up spending two nights at the nice fancy hotel, and all I have to show for it is a “it may be mastocytosis or polycythemia vera, but honestly, hell if we know” note from about twenty different doctors.

So that was last week. This past week has, in comparison, been devoted almost entirely to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I still don’t believe it’s already Sunday. This game is going to eat my soul. Send help.

Marietta Chapter 18

Enjoy Chapter 18: Sierra Struggles! Fun little chapter, but a few sentences really tripped me up. Ready the sails, because this ship is raising anchor!

This would’ve come out days sooner, but besides dabbling with Tropico 3, I’ve once again been reading too much. Somehow the yuri bug bit me, and I came down with a fever only Lily ex Machina and The New Journey of an Old Soul have been able to satisfy so far. They read a bit like shounen with female protagonists, and their starts are a bit bumpy, but give them a shot if you need more to read.

Marietta Chapter 17

Make sure to clear your youngsters out of the room before reading Chapter 17: Obligatory Muscle Festival. Seriously.

The first half of this chapter was translated pretty quickly. Then I got to the second half, and… Well, you’ll see. Had to take a step back and figure out how I would be styling it, and future chapters, through word choice, especially since the series is obvs heating up. I’m rereading Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon, for inspiration (though I’ll admit the heroines probs couldn’t be any more different). I enjoyed it my first time through, but my girlfriend was pretty annoyed with the protagonist, so I guess it’s a hit-or-miss book.

If you’ve read this far, thanks! Have an internet for your diligence d(^-^ d)

Marietta Chapter 16

Happy late Valentines gift! Enjoy Chapter 16: Marietta’s Anger

Uwaaa, has it really been that long since I’ve updated this? How embarrassing… Turns out, I didn’t like working in the library, so I didn’t start translating in earnest until I got my internet back last Sunday. Even then, I sunk a good four days into Crunchyroll (I positively adore this season’s Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid! Go watch it! Waaatch it!!)

I’ll see if I can’t work harder now that my home is now a viable place to translate. Thanks for your patience, everyone!

Spear Hero 433

Finally, an update! Go read Spearbro 433, if you’d like.

There’s two major reasons for the radio silence, and one important announcement. I’ve had about a solid week of translating total since my last post, all thanks to travelling, family time, babysitting, job searching, and just general lack of internet access. I’m only online now because I remembered my local university had free internet in their libraries.

Alright, so not much time on the computer; with a week of translating, I should’ve gotten a lot done, right? Frankly though, I’ve only ended up with a chapter and a half of Spearbro. For whatever reason, my motivation on this series is completely shot. I can’t get more than two hours of stop and go effort on each chapter before I find myself reflexively on youtube or somewhere else equally wasteful.

This leads me into my important announcement: I’m only guaranteeing Spearbro through the end of the current arc (which ends somewhere in the 450s). No promises on how fast that’ll be out either, unless the next few chapters really ignite the flame they used to have in my heart. It’s shitty of me, I know, but in the end, I work on what I want to work on, and it’s not fair to me or you readers if I’m just going to sit on the series and make empty promises about when I’ll find the motivation to put out.

Thanks for reading.

Marietta Chapter 14 (Plus Some)

Hey ya’ll hey! Enjoy Chapter 14:The Aftermath of the Party and the Young Duchess!

This probably would have been out faster, but in the middle of translating (Page 4 of 15, line 2 of my google doc, to be exact) I suddenly thought “Hey, translating this is a blast. I wonder if… I would have fun translating OTHER things?!” After which I set off through NU (because I’m still working on figuring out how to navigate Syosetu) looking for similar stories that hadn’t been updated in a while. To cut to the chase, I’m starting my teaser page with my take on Chapter 1: The Wedding Night of “Their Love-life Starts After the Wedding Night” (Previously teased by the folks at Hold ‘X’ and Click). I’d like to translate this series as well, I think, but then again, I’d also like to put out a chapter of Marietta every two days and get an even time split with Spear Hero. Future goals, I guess, especially considering the jump in difficulty with this one. Anyways, give it a shot. XD

Finally, I have great readers. The best, actually. A pessimistic part of me wants to say you’re only so sweet because of the lethal doses of Marietta-flavored sugar I’m dumping you with, but I still really appreciate your comments and thoughts. Even if I couldn’t think of an individual reply to all of you that commented, I read through every word. Really, thank you all.
